Gains & Value (Labha Vagga)

Salābhaṃ nātimaññeyya

Thai:
“One should not despise one's own gains.”

A pervasive cognitive trap is overlooking the gifts in our own hands while assuming the grass is greener everywhere else. This perpetual self-diminishment breeds jealousy and bitterness. "Salapham natimanyeyya" calls us to honor our efforts, talents, and opportunities. Even if rewards appear modest in conventional eyes, when gained with integrity, they constitute a sacred foundation for future growth. Honoring one's own rightful fruits bestows unshakable self-respect.

Gains & Value (Labha Vagga)

ārogayaparamā lābhā

Thai:
“Freedom from disease is the highest of all gains.”

Nurturing physical vitality and healing mental afflictions represents our wisest investment. Living naturally in mindful harmony cures the existential disease of discontent.

Gains & Value (Labha Vagga)

Ladadhā lābhṃ n majajeyay

Thai:
“Having obtained wealth and honor, one should not become intoxicated with pride.”

Treat material success as an instrument for communal service rather than a measure of intrinsic worth. True nobility lies in humble equanimity.

Gains & Value (Labha Vagga)

Santuṭṭhī paramaṃ dhanaṃ

Thai:
“Contentment with what one possesses is the supreme wealth.”

True affluence is not measured by possessions accumulated, but by the rarity of one's cravings. When the heart is content, life is rich.

Gains & Value (Labha Vagga)

N lābhahetu pihaye paresṃ

Thai:
“One should never envy the gains, honors, and successes of others.”

Another's triumph never diminishes your worth. Celebrating others converts toxic friction into radiant harmony.
